Ms. Monica Close serves as the Military Advocate & Liaison at Valdosta State University. She lead university efforts in supporting military-connected students, ensuring a seamless transition from service to higher education and providing dedicated advocacy throughout their academic journey.
Prior to joining VSU, Ms. Close worked alongside the Air Force, concluding her time as a GS-06. Her DoD career included assignments such as the Communications Liaison, Drug Demand Reduction, and Unit Security Manager in the Command Support Squadron at RAF Mildenhall, where she developed a deep commitment to continuous process improvement, operational leadership, and personnel development.
Ms. Close holds a Master of Art and Design from Kennesaw State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business from University of Phoenix. She actively serves on the board for Red Carpet of South Georgia, and is deeply dedicated to connecting student veterans with critical campus resources, benefits, and career opportunities.
