VSU Enactus, Heart2Heart Collecting School Supplies Nov. 16-18

VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University Enactus and Heart2Heart have partnered with the Lowndes Drug Action Council (LODAC) Inc. to ensure every elementary and middle school student has the materials needed to be successful throughout the academic year.

“It was brought to our attention by the people at LODAC that student and teacher supplies run low around this time of the year and many are not able to replenish those supplies,” said Jasmine Brooks, Enactus president.

Enactus and Heart2Heart have been working closely with LODAC to identify local students and teachers who need assistance.

The result was the formation of LODAC’s Closet.

“We are asking that [every on- and off-campus] organization or business help us collect school supplies for the students,” said Brooks.

The LODAC’s Closet wish list includes index cards, composition notebooks, first-aid supplies, tri-fold boards, dry-erase markers, colored markers, pencils, pens, electric pencil sharpeners, paper cutters, scissors, rulers, three-inch ring binders, safety scissors, dividers, Clorox wipes, Lysol cleaner sprays, tissues, paper towels, glue sticks, hand sanitizer, assorted colored copy paper, white copy paper, and notebook paper.

Supplies will be collected from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 16-17 and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 in Pound Hall Room 117A.

“We believe that having the necessary supplies will increase students’ productivity in school and lead to better outcomes,” Brooks said.

For more than 20 years as a student organization, VSU Enactus has continued to represent and reaffirm the international organization’s long-standing commitment to using entrepreneurial action as a catalyst for progress.
