VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University Campus Wellness will host the 10th annual Benefits and Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, on the third floor of the Student Union. VSU faculty, staff, students, and retirees are encouraged to attend.

More than 70 exhibitors, benefit and retirement representatives, local service providers, and on-campus service providers will be present to distribute information and answer questions related to health, wellness, and benefit plans. Participants will have the opportunity to receive free massages, fitness demonstrations, and refreshments, discounted passes to Wild Adventures, door prizes, and more.

As part of its employee health initiative, the University System of Georgia has provided 250 free flu shots for VSU faculty, staff, and retirees who request one beginning at 9 a.m.

The Student Health Center will offer flu vaccines to students for $10.

Screenings for blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, and cholesterol will begin an hour before the start of the Benefits and Wellness Fair. Hearing and vision screenings will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Rebecca Murphy, a member of the VSU Wellness Committee and associate director of Human Resources for Employee and Organizational Development, said, “This fair is a great opportunity for faculty, staff, students, and retirees to get access to our benefit and retirement providers. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the free health screenings. We look forward to seeing you there.”

The VSU Wellness Committee promotes and supports an increased awareness and practice of a healthy lifestyle by offering a variety of educational activities and programs that address the social, intellectual, occupational, spiritual, physical, and emotional wellness of the university's faculty, staff, and student population.
