Campus Wellness, Alpha Phi Omega Host Safe Sex Week Feb. 9-13
VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University Campus Wellness and Sigma Iota chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity Inc. will host Safe Sex Week Feb. 9-13.
“The overall purpose of this week is to educate students on the benefits of safe sex,” said Marcus Hill, fraternity president.
- Monday, Feb. 9 — Safe Sex Information Table
Alpha Phi Omega will give out condoms, information, and statistics about safe and unprotected sex, sexually transmitted diseases, and abstinence from noon to 4 p.m. in the Student Union. The Collegiate Men of Valdosta State University, Office of Health Promotions, and the Student Health Center will also have representatives in attendance.
- Tuesday, Feb. 10 — Family Feud: Sex Edition
Alpha Phi Omega will visit students in the residence halls to test their knowledge about safe and unprotected sex beginning at 8 p.m.
- Wednesday, Feb. 11 — Safe Sex Carnival
Various student organizations, including Alpha Phi Omega, the Black Student League, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., Her Campus, Women of Diversity, and more, will host games centered on safe sex and the dangers of unprotected sex from noon to 4 p.m. in Palms Quad.
- Thursday, Feb. 12 — Free HIV Testing
Testing will take place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Student Union Meeting Room No. 1 and the Heritage Conference Room. A valid student identification card is required.
- Friday, Feb. 13 — Love Affair in the Union
The Student Health Center will pass out condoms and flowers to students from 11 a.m. to noon in the Student Union.
- Friday, Feb. 13 — Free Chlamydia and Gonorrhea Testing
Testing will take place from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Student Health Center. A valid student identification card is required.
