VSU’s Relay for Life "Game Over Cancer" takes place April 11

VALDOSTA—Valdosta State University’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life will be held from 7 p.m., April 11, to dawn on Saturday morning on the university’s front lawn.  The cancer survivor and caregivers walk begins at 7:30 p.m.

VSU’s faculty, staff and students are invited to join together to celebrate, remember and help raise money in the fight against cancer.

According to John Wright, associate director of student life, 47 VSU departments and student organizations are participating in this year’s Relay for Life and sponsoring fundraising events including “Dress Down Days” and “Penny Wars.” In addition, a putt-putt golf tournament will take place beginning at 3 p.m. on March 28 at Jungle Jym’s, located 3124 N. Oak Street Extension, cost is $20 per team of two.

Individuals can also recognize a loved one by purchasing luminaries for $5. The event will include activities and teams providing games, food and more to continue to raise money throughout the night.
