VSU’s Housing and Residence Life Sponsors Blood Drive March 25

VALDOSTA- Valdosta State University’s Housing and Residence Life will sponsor an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 in the Student Union Ballroom.

According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Donating one pint of blood can save three lives.

“The American Red Cross is the primary blood supplier to local hospitals in Lowndes County and relies heavily on the students of Valdosta State University to help maintain an adequate supply,” said Claire Bowen, donor recruitment representative for the American Red Cross. “Nearly 20 percent of all donations come from high school and college students, so we encourage VSU students to donate with us at drives on campus.”

Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduling appointments online in advance is encouraged. To schedule an appointment online, visit www.redcrossblood.org then go to “Find a blood drive near you” and use sponsor code: vsu and date: March 25, 2014.

Pizza will be provided for every donor at the drive. For more information about the event, contact Claire Bowen at claire.bowen@redcross.org.
