VSU Community Encouraged to Learn More about Health Lifestyle at Annual Fair
VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University’s eighth annual Health and Wellness Fair will be held from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, on the third floor of the Student Union.
The fair is open to VSU students, faculty, staff and retirees. Free flu shots will be given to the first 200 faculty, staff and retirees. Flu shots are $10 for students and $20 for faculty, staff and retirees (after 200 free shots are distributed).
The Health and Wellness Fair is divided into three fairs that are held in one location with more than 45 vendors contributing.
The Health and Wellness Fair will feature various health and wellness demonstrations along with vision and hearing screenings; free mini manicures and massages; and free glucose/cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) readings beginning at 9 a.m.
The Benefits Fair provides an opportunity for faculty, staff and retirees to meet benefits and retirement representatives including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aflac and U.S. Bank. In addition, new providers such as MedLife, Minnesota Life Insurance and Delta Dental will be in attendance.
The Alcohol Awareness Fair encourages students to participate by testing the beer goggles and learning how to develop a safe and healthy lifestyle. Students will have the chance to enjoy free hot dogs and receive various prizes.
