Mass Media Faculty to Compete in 48-Hour Film Event at VSU
VALDOSTA — At 6 p.m. on Friday, March 1, six Valdosta State University Mass Media faculty members will be given a prop, a character, a line of dialogue, and 48 hours to write, shoot, direct, and edit a four-to-seven-minute film.
Frank Barnas, Marie Elliott, Talley Mulligan, Jason Brown, Colin Walker, and Mike Savoie, who also serves as interim dean of the Honors College, will use the limited resources available to them on campus during the 48-Hour Film Competition; their students will serve as their cast and crew. They will be able to complete the project at any location available to them, on or off campus.
“There won’t be a lot of sleep in those 48 hours as we begin writing at 7 p.m. on Friday and the final film has to be edited, finished, and exported to DVD by 7 p.m. on Sunday,” said Elliott, an assistant professor of Mass Media at VSU. “It’s going to be so much fun.”
Guest judges will determine the winner of the 48-Hour Film Competition during a screening at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, in the Psychology Building Auditorium, Room 1204. The public is invited to attend.
