Anita Ondrusek Participates in Phi Kappa Phi’s 2012 Biennial Convention

Dr. Anita Ondrusek

VALDOSTA--VSU Associate Professor Dr. Anita Ondrusek represented the VSU chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at its 2012 biennial convention on Aug. 10-11 in St. Louis, Mo. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

The two-day event featured a keynote address from retired NASA astronaut Wendy Lawrence, as well as presentations by award winners from Phi Kappa Phi’s grant programs, professional development workshops, regional meetings, ideas for strengthening chapters and elections for the new board of directors.

“The Phi Kappa Phi gathering was informative and inspiring,” said Ondrusek. “There were many planned meetings to educate new chapter officers, like me, on the structure of the organization. However, what I found most invigorating was mingling with colleagues who hold themselves and their institutions to the very highest academic standards. One of my goals as president of the VSU PKP chapter is to keep the momentum of PKP growing on our campus.”

Dr. Ondrusek serves as president for the VSU chapter and attended the convention as the chapter’s voting delegate. The convention was attended by more than 300 guests, including 177 chapter delegates.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

The Society has chapters on more than 300 select colleges and universities in North America and the Philippines. For more information, contact Ondrusek at alondrus@valdosta.edu or visit http://www.valdosta.edu/vsu/stuorg/PKP.
