VSU Wind Ensemble Performs Monday
VALDOSTA -- Conducted by Eric E. Bradshaw, Valdosta State
University’s Wind Ensemble will perform “When East Meets West” at
7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, in Whitehead Auditorium. Admission
is free of charge.
The program features Yo Goto’s “A Prelude to a Shining Day,” Robert
Russell Bennett’s “Autobiography for Band,” Bernard Rogers’ “Three
Japanese Dances,” Samuel Augustus Ward’s “America the Beautiful,”
Toshio Mashima’s “A Symphonic Poem ‘Taiwan,’” Steven Bryant’s “The
Marbled Midnight Mile,” and John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes
Forever.” There will be a brief intermission after the Rogers’
piece.

VSU’s Department of Music is a fully accredited member of the
National Association of Schools of Music. It boasts a faculty of
active performers, scholars, conductors, clinicians, and
adjudicators throughout the region and offers a range of
instrumental and vocal performing ensembles, open to all university
students.
The Department of Music presents over 200 musical performances for
the public each year. Upcoming events include the Jazz Ensemble at
7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, a faculty chamber recital at 7:30
p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, and a student recital at 7:30 p.m. on
Thursday, Sept. 27.
Whitehead Auditorium is located on the first floor of the Fine Arts
Building, which is located at the intersection Brookwood Drive and
Patterson Street.
