Langdale College of Business Maintains AACSB Accreditation
VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University's Langdale College of
Business Administration (LCOBA) recently announced that it has
maintained its business accreditation by the Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
VSU is one of 59 schools recognized internationally for maintaining
its accreditation. This number accounts for less than five percent
of colleges and universities worldwide. VSU has been accredited
since 1981.
"It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn
and maintain AACSB accreditation," said Jerry Trapnell, vice
president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International.
"Schools not only must meet specific standards of excellence, but
their deans, faculty and staff must make a commitment to ongoing
improvement to ensure continued delivery of high-quality education
to students."
To maintain accreditation a business program must undergo a
rigorous internal review every five years, which includes
demonstrating continued commitment to 21 quality standards that
relate to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources,
interactions of faculty and students and continuous improvement and
achievement of learning goals in degree programs.
"Maintenance of AACSB accreditation has been a concerted effort of
faculty, staff, students and advisory boards," said LCOBA Dean
Wayne Plumly. "Maintenance is a continuing process and not an
event. We strive for excellence in our business programs and this
effort has been recognized by our accrediting body. Our students
are the beneficiaries of our commitment to excellence."
The LCOBA will be recognized for its achievement on April 28 at the
AACSB International Annual Conference in San Diego.
AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body
for business schools that offer bachelor's, master's and doctorate
degrees in business and accounting.
