Virtual Visitors Welcomed

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University welcomes “virtual visitors” to its new 3-D interactive web site. VSU's virtual campus experience features an interactive map that allows users to view the entire campus, as well as watch videos to learn more about the academic programs and activities housed in each building. The web site also includes a series of informative videos featuring academics, athletics, student life and a community overview.

“We are very excited about the new virtual tour. We are able to showcase the many reasons why Valdosta State University is such a great choice,” said Ryan Hogan, associate director of Admissions. “Whether a student is interested in our study abroad program, Model United Nations, athletics, or a degree in biology, this virtual tour speaks to the individual needs and desires of all of our prospective students and their families.”

The project was funded through the university’s Strategic Focus initiative and was a collaborative effort among several departments on campus.

The videos and maps will help familiarize visitors with the campus and serve as a strong recruiting tool for prospective students and their families.

“Today’s prospective student completes a major portion of his or her college search online, relying on the resources available and narrowing their choices to the top candidates,” said Mary Gooding, director of Marketing. “In many cases, they apply without ever physically walking on the campus. We needed to be able to show all the advantages of VSU online and a connection with the students we want. Video is definitely their preferred format.”
