VSU Welcomes Fulton as Communications Specialist

 

VALDOSTA -- Malynda Dorsey Fulton recently accepted the position of communications specialist within the Communications Unit at Valdosta State University. With a background in journalism, public relations and marketing, Fulton will work with departments/divisions to develop story ideas for publicity; maintain contact with local, regional and state media to promote the university; and provide writing and editing support for university publications. She will also be responsible for maintaining the university’s communications web sites.

A VSU graduate, Fulton holds a bachelor's degree in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. She gained extensive public relations experience through internships with Valdosta City Schools, Lowndes County Schools and the Valdosta-Lowndes County Convention & Visitors Bureau. During her three-year tenure as a news reporter for The Valdosta Daily Times, Fulton enhanced her ability to simplify complex issues and deliver accurate, newsworthy stories within deadlines. She spent the past year as a marketing representative for the Georgia Department of Labor, where she developed positive relationships with local employers and promoted the agency's services.
