VSU Celebrates Black History Week: Jan. 31 - Feb. 4
VALDOSTA -- As the nation prepares to honor the achievements of
black men and women in history throughout February, Valdosta State
University will host events and activities Jan. 31 to Feb 4 that
focus on social unity, progress, culture, leadership and positive
diversity on campus. VSU’s Black History Week is sponsored by the
university’s chapter of the NAACP, Black Student League (BSL) and
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).
"We chose the theme 'Advocating Leadership, Culture and Unity' for
the week because there is a great need for creative leadership and
appreciation of cultures, and we must always strive for unity among
all people," VSU NAACP President DeAndre Jones said. "Throughout
the week, we hope to engage and inspire everyone, not just one
group of people."
