Avraye Henry Crowned 2010 Homecoming Queen

VALDOSTA -- Senior mathematics major Avraye Henry was crowned Valdosta State University’s 2010 Homecoming Queen on Oct. 2. Henry is the daughter of Kenneth and Paulette Henry of Mableton, Ga., and graduated from South Cobb High School.

Representing Delta Sigma Theta, Henry was one of five members of this year’s homecoming court. She is currently secretary of the Student Government Association and has served on the Campus Communications Board, 2008 Presidential Search and Advisory Committee, New Student Union Policy Committee and is currently serving as the student representative on the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Search Committee.

Scheduled to graduate May 2011, Henry plans to become a high school mathematics teacher and hopes to one day become a school administrator.

The recipient of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, Henry said the most beneficial part of her college career has been the experience and knowledge she gained.

“VSU has taught me the definition of hard work,” Henry said. “It has molded me into a wiser person. It has shown me that with perseverance, all goals are attainable; and ultimately, it has motivated me to continue to do great things beyond VSU.”
