VSU Hosts Two Summer Commencement Ceremonies

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University will host commencement for 570 summer graduates on Saturday, July 31, in the P.E. Complex.

The undergraduate ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and all graduate degrees will be conferred at the 12:30 p.m. commencement. Students are asked to wear academic regalia and dark shoes and accessories. They should also arrive one hour prior to the ceremony and proceed upstairs to the mezzanine. Receptions will follow both ceremonies.

Parking is available for faculty, staff, platform party, and volunteers in the Sustella surface lot. Parents and guests may park in the Oak Street parking deck and surface lot. Handicapped parking can be found in the parking lot along the west side of the P.E. Complex; ask a usher for direction to special seating reserved for persons with disabilities. All guests are asked to arrive early and refrain from saving seats, bringing air horns and shouting during the ceremony.

Those attending graduation ceremonies are urged to avoid Baytree Road to decrease congestion on the main thoroughfare. Faculty, staff, and volunteers enter Sustella Avenue from Mary Street and turn left into the lot. Thank you for your cooperation so that we may ease the traffic flow for out of town guests.

Additional information about graduation schedules, directions and seating may be found at VSU Event Services Web site, www.valdosta.edu/commencement/index.shtml.
