Fair Educates Students About Spring Break Dangers

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University’s Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Education will hold its tenth annual Safe Spring Break Fair for students on Wednesday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Palms Quad.

A fun-filled fair with music, free food and door prizes, the event will begin March 9 with a DUI Simulator in the Palms Quad. The fair also will include an informational table about the 2010 Census, which will be mailed out the week before spring break, and its relevance to students.

“The purpose is to provide our students with the information they need to make healthy, safe decisions while on spring break; these areas of concern include alcohol and drug misuse, sexual responsibility, driving while tired/sleepy and over exposure to the sun,” said Mark Williams, coordinator for the Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Education. “Our students work hard throughout the semester and deserve to have a fun, relaxing time over spring break; it is my hope those memories will be positive ones.”
