Blazer Dining to Serve up Goodwill

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University’s Blazer Dining has organized a campus-wide volunteer effort 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the Valdosta Community Soup Kitchen. Faculty, staff and students are invited to serve meals to more than 100 people in the area.

Hunger affects 35 million people in the United States, including more than 12.4 million children. Rich Yokeley, Sodexo Campus Services general manager at VSU, said Sedexo is committed to supporting initatives that contribute to a hunger-free nation, one community at a time.

“Our hope is that this event will not only make a difference for those who are just ‘getting by’ and experiencing the devastating effects of hunger,” Yokeley said. “It’s an opportunity for all of us to reach out to help strengthen our community.”

Anyone interested in volunteering at the soup kitchen on Nov. 20 should meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Soup Kitchen, 601 N. Lee St. For more information, call Jenna Maroney at (229) 333-7146 or e-mail her at jennifer.gilbert@sodexo.com.
