Lee National Denim Day Oct. 28

VALDOSTA - Wear blue jeans to campus Wednesday, Oct. 28, for the comfortable fee of $5, which will fund breast cancer research and early detection campaigns. Stop by informational booths along the pedestrian walkway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to enter drawings, learn more about cancer prevention and see jeans decorated in honor of breast cancer survivors.

Faculty and staff should designate one person in each office or department to collect the suggested $5 donation from each employee in the office who wears blue jeans. Students may donate at the informational booths on the pedestrian walkway. The efforts are part of Lee National Denim Day - the nation’s largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer, having raised more than $75 million for the cause.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to decorate a pair of jeans in honor/recognition of breast cancer survivors. The jeans will be hung up throughout Palms Quad on Oct. 28. Free tribute cards will be available at the information booths, and the cards will be posted along the Quad throughout the day.

For more information, call Holly Wright, health educator for the Office of Health Promotions, at (229) 245-3896 or e-mail her at hhwright@valdosta.edu.
