College of Education Announces Peer Advisors

VALDOSTA - The Valdosta State University Dewar College of Education announced the names of 13 students who will guide first-year and transfer students through their first semester at VSU.

Peer advisors facilitate orientation activities, provide guidance and enthusiasm during advising and registration, and distribute pertinent information to incoming college of education students. Dr. Philip Gunter, dean of the college of education, said peer advisors are top students eager to share their strategies for success at VSU.

“Students new to Valdosta State seem to find comfort in working with others who have already traveled the road; the notion of camaraderie is so important to the new student/peer advisor relationship,” Gunter said.

Peer advisors are selected based on their participation in campus activities, grade point average, leadership and communication skills as well as their desire to represent the college of education.
