Registration Open for Parents Weekend

VALDOSTA - Registration is open for Parents Weekend at Valdosta State University, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19-20.

Hosted by the VSU Office of Student Life, Parents Weekend is an annual opportunity for students and their parents to connect and together discover the wonder of Valdosta State. Cost is $25 per family and many events require reservations.

Participants can check in from 6-7 p.m. Friday and will enjoy a concert on Palms Quad featuring "The Key West Band," a Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band at 8 p.m. Free events on Saturday's include an academic expo, a planetarium show and library tours. The VSU Bookstore will be open for shopping and families will have opportunities to explore campus and discover the superior local dining that the city of Valdosta offers.

Families may also choose to register for paid events on Saturday. A southern-style lunch will be served in the University Centers Magnolia Room featuring barbecue and "all the fixings" as well as a chance to meet the new VSU president, Dr. Patrick Schloss. Cost is $10 per person and those who wish to dine must pre-register. Families are encouraged to cheer on the VSU Blazers as they take on the Ouachita Baptist Tigers at 7 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $5 for per person, or students may present a valid VSU ID for admission. Those who prefer to sample the arts can enjoy the VSU Theatre Production "Doubt."
