Endowment Established to Honor President Zaccari

VALDOSTA- Valdosta State University announces the establishment of the Ronald M. Zaccari Presidential Lecture Series, an endowment made possible through a financial gift from Juneau Construction and the Ambling Companies.

The goal is to grow the endowment to a minimum of $250,000, which will allow interest earned annually to support expenses associated with hosting guest speakers. Currently the endowment contains more than $125,000 in gifts and pledges, including many individual contributions.

"Our gift is primarily to honor the legacy of Dr. Zaccari and his great vision and thank him for the professional courtesy we have been extended during our time on campus,” said Les Juneau, President of Juneau Construction. "There is little doubt that brilliant guest speakers will be attracted to this vibrant campus and there is absolutely no doubt that this new program should appropriately be named the Ronald M. Zaccari Presidential Lecture Series.”

Charles Perry, President of Ambling University Development Group, shares Juneau’s sentiments, "We feel honored to have worked with Dr. Zaccari. He is a champion for change, growth and for excellence. Ambling University Development Group is committed to ensuring that his spirit and dedication to Valdosta State University lives on through this specific endowment.”

The university’s current Presidential Lecture Series began in 2006 and since its inception has hosted seven lecturers including an academy award winner, author, poet, economist, and a renowned explorer. The Ronald M. Zaccari Presidential Lecture Series will continue the tradition and expand the opportunities for VSU’s students, faculty and staff, along with members of the community to participate in thought-provoking presentations and discussions with a variety of notable national speakers.

"I am honored that the Presidential Lecture Series will continue to grow and provide a venue for scholars, artists and scientists to engage in the teaching and learning process at Valdosta State University,” Zaccari said. "The lecture series expands the university’s commitment to provide the highest quality educational experience and encourage intellectual exchange of information throughout many academic disciplines.”
