VSU Hosts Annual Chili Cook-off

VALDOSTA - The Office of Special Events at Valdosta State University will host the 2007 VSU Chili Cook-off, “Chillin’ with the Champs,” on Saturday morning, Oct. 27, at E. Jane Street near Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. Teams can set up as early as 7 a.m. and judging begins at 11 a.m.

Restaurant and individual teams are invited to decorate their booths, wear costumes and test their chili-making skills in this exciting competition. Winners for best-tasting chili in both categories take home $200 for first place, $100 for second and $50 for third and all entrants are eligible for the $300 Best Tasting Chili Grand Prize or the special gift for best overall booth presentation.

Sponsored by The Valdosta Daily Times, Black Crow Events, Budweiser, Greek Row and Charlie Tripper’s, the cook-off will feature a live remote from 99.5 Kix, Hot 102.7, Rock 108, which will broadcast alternately the day of the cook-off beginning at 7 a.m. The award presentation will begin immediately following the conclusion of judging, prior to the VSU vs. North Alabama Football Game.
