2007 Online Lifeline Conference

Mark your calendars and plan to attend Valdosta State University's 2007 Online Lifeline Conference sponsored by the Division of Public Services, Departments of Continuing Education and Distance Learning, and the HUB Learning Cooperative at Valdosta State University. This year's keynote speaker is Jessica Somers, Executive Director, Academic Innovation, Advanced Learning Technologies, University System of Georgia Board of Regents. She has primary responsibility for system-wide faculty development activities focused on incorporating technology into instruction. She is currently a sponsor for the Georgia Digital Innovation Group that is hosted at Georgia College.

The conference will be held at the Regional Center for Continuing Education, 903 N Patterson Street, on February 16, 2007. Registration and poster sessions will begin at 8:00 AM. Dr. Somers' address is scheduled for 9:30 AM followed by a wide variety of breakout sessions throughout the morning and early afternoon. Sessions include using video conferencing, incorporating Horizon Live into your online classroom, looking at digital immigrants and natives, building and extending courseware through the use of technology, entering the world of podcasting and podcatching and much more. The closing session, Vista Visions, is scheduled for 2:30 PM and will feature comments by Mike Rogers, USG's Associate Director for Instructional Design and Development, and an audience discussion with VSU's IT and Distance Learning Administrators.
