Forensics team participates at LSU competition

The Valdosta State University Forensics Team attended the 2006 Louisiana State University-Shreveport tournament on November 10-12. Dr. Mike Eaves has served as the coach of the team since 1993.

This year’s team consisted of Lindsay Herring, William Finney, Brad Moody, Doel Parrilla, Hunter Sizemore, and Nikki Slaton. Lindsay Herring won 5th place in program oral interpretation and After Dinner Speaking; Brad Moody and Hunter Sizemore finished 5th place in Novice Debate; and Hunter Sizemore placed 6th overall in prose interpretation.

There were 27 colleges and universities in attendance. Several Division I schools competed against the Blazers including University of Houston, Boise State, Texas Tech University, Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge, University of Alabama, and others.

This is VSU’s largest team to travel in nearly three years. Lindsay Herring also served as a student coach in helping one of the novice debate teams. “Lindsay’s efforts were commendable and were a key reason for our debate success over the weekend,” said Dr. Eaves.

The VSU Forensics Team is planning several tournaments in the spring including trips to St. Louis, Phoenix, and Pensacola. The team is open to all majors on campus.
