Valdosta State University presents last part in 'Witness to theHolocaust' series
Valdosta State University's History Department and the Valdosta
Hebrew Congregation will host the last speaker in the six-part
series, "Witness to the Holocaust," at two separate community
engagements.
Holocaust survivor Andre Kessler will speak Sunday, November 13, at
6:30 p.m., at Temple Israel located at 511 Baytree Rd, and again at
the VSU Odum Library Auditorium, on Monday, November 14, at 1
p.m.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1940, Kessler and his mother spent
almost two years hiding in a small apartment with the windows
darkened and sheets under the door to block the sound. Kessler's
inspirational story and powerful message is an appropriate
culmination for the educational series that has provided meaningful
interpretations and testimonies of a significant event in
history.
Kessler's personal testimony is open to the general public. For
further information, contact Dr. Louis Schmier, professor of
History at VSU, at 333-5947.
