Valdosta State University shares joy of season

Valdosta State University's Counseling Center and Division of Student Affairs are accepting donations for the adopt a family program, giving VSU and other community members a chance to help those in our community who might otherwise fall through the cracks during the holiday season.

Leah McMillan, Valdosta State counselor, and John Wright, assistant director of Student Life, hope to assist over 50 families and individuals and over 150 children this season.

It's as easy as 1-2-3-4. First, individuals or organizations need to decide how many people they would like to adopt. Next, participants are given an individual or family wish list, either by fax or mail. Then, participants purchase, wrap, and label the gifts with the family number so all gifts per family stay together. Last, participants should drop off the gifts at University Union, second floor, in the Student Life office or may contact McMillan or Wright for pick up.

Gifts need to be dropped off by December 12 to allow adequate time to sort the gifts and have them delivered to recipients by December 24.

The holidays are about giving and what better way to help than by adopting a family. Contact McMillan at 229-333-5940, or Wright at 229-333-5674 to volunteer or for more information.
