Dr. Plumly receives Leadership Award

Dr. L. Wayne Plumly has been awarded the 2005 Jack Kahl Entrepreneurial Leadership award for his contributions to the VSU Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team. Plumly, a professor in the Marketing and Economics Department, is the Sam Walton Fellow (faculty advisor) to VSU SIFE, an organization which has recently received a third place finish in a national competition which had over 800 schools involved.

SIFE teams teach important concepts through educational outreach projects, including market economics, entrepreneurship, personal and financial success, and business ethics to better themselves and their communities.

"I am honored to be associated with such passionate and caring students. VSU SIFE makes a meaningful long term impact in the community," Plumly said.

Plumly is the co-founder of VSU SIFE, which he has guided to two fourth place finishes and one third place finish over the past four years. VSU SIFE team has won ten straight regional championships.

SIFE is a nonprofit organization that provides students with the tools to learn the free enterprise system in a real working situation.
