Business in Africa is focus of next Interdisciplinary Program
Valdosta State University's fourth interdisciplinary
international program will be presented at noon on Friday, April
15, in Pound Hall Auditorium located on Rea and Lillian Steele
North Campus.
Dr. C. Tracy Harrington, director of the VSU Center for
International Programs (CIP), will conduct the lecture. Harrington,
who lived in Tanzania and Zambia for a number of years, has been
instrumental in establishing study-abroad programs and faculty
exchanges.
Harrington will address a senior level International Management
class taught by Dr. Fred A. Ware, VSU professor of management.
Expatriate business managers and international traders will receive
tips on attaining success in Africa, including brief overviews of
selected countries in the continent.
The director will retire from VSU after 16 years of leading the
university's multiple internationalization initiatives.
The HUB Learning Cooperative, Harley Langdale, Jr. College of
Business Administration's Management Department, and CIP are
endorsing the event. HUB is a faculty consortium that encourages
interdisciplinary educational efforts.
This lecture is the fourth installment of five programs scheduled
for the spring semester. The fifth and final program, scheduled for
Wednesday, April 27, will deal with international management in
Australia and New Zealand.
The public is welcome to attend these various class presentations
by campus speakers. The programs are in support of the VSU
Collaborative Activity Plan, a strategic effort that encourages
interdisciplinary scholarly exchanges. Visitor parking passes for
presentation attendees are free and available at the VSU Parking
and Transportation Office.
