VSU Presents an Array of Interdisciplinary Programs
The HUB Learning Cooperative, Harley Langdale, Jr. College of
Business Administration's Management Department, and Center for
International Programs (CIP) will be endorsing five
interdisciplinary international lunchtime programs this
semester.
The first lecture will be an introduction to the European Union by
Dr. Michael Baun, political science professor and Marguerite
Langdale Pizer Chair of International Relations. The presentation
is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23, at noon, in Pound Hall
Auditorium located on Rea and Lillian Steele North Campus.
Baun will address an undergraduate, senior level International
Management class taught by Dr. Fred A. Ware, Jr., professor of
management. A similar presentation convened during fall
semester.
?The responses to Dr. Baun's two prior presentations at the
Langdale College of Business have been very enthusiastic,? said
Ware. ?As a matter of fact, we now have several business majors
working toward their European Union Studies Program
certificates.?
?HUB is a learning collaborative organized by faculty and staff for
faculty and staff,? said Dr. Louis Levy, Vice President for
Academic Affairs. ?It is a high-tech, but comfortable, setting in
the intellectual center of campus [Odum Library] where faculty can
informally assist each other with projects and develop new ideas
for research and teaching. As it develops, the HUB will become a
place for enhancing course design and curriculum development.
Upcoming presentations include the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations (ASEAN) on March 9, Central and South America on March 23,
Africa on April 13, and the South Pacific on April 27. More details
will be announced about the general topics in following
months.
The public is welcome to attend these various class presentations
by campus speakers. The programs are in support of the VSU
Collaborative Activity Plan, a strategic effort that encourages
interdisciplinary scholarly exchanges. Visitor parking passes for
presentation attendees are free and available at the VSU Parking
and Transportation Office.
