VSU SCOPE 2005 Program Underway

The School College Outreach Program of Enrichment (SCOPE), provided by Valdosta State University's Continuing Education, will have a new session starting on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Continuing Education building and on main campus.

The program has been offering various activities for children of all ages. They offer courses in fantasy art, computers, Spanish, chemistry, Native American, dance, crime scene investigation, cooking, and more. The length of each session will be three weeks rather than the six week time period used in previous years.

?The six hours of instruction are spread out over three weeks instead of six weeks, allowing more time to focus on a subject each class meeting,? said Maureen McDonald, VSU Continuing Education program coordinator. ?Students and instructors who have other weekend commitments will now have a chance to participate in the program.?

Fees for the classes are $45 or $55, based on the amount of materials needed for the class. For more information, please contact the VSU Continuing Education department at (229) 245-6484, or visit their website, www.valdosta.edu/conted .

?We are very proud of the SCOPE program, which has been going on now for more than 20 years,? McDonald said. ?Through this program, kids get a chance to try out new activities, discover the joy of learning, and have fun at the same time.?
