Jessie Tuggle, Retiree of the NFL, will speak at The HarleyLangdale, Jr. Lecture Series

Jessie Tuggle, Valdosta State University alumnus and former NFL star, is the featured speaker for the Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration Lecture Series. As a 1992 business graduate and a former VSU football player, Tuggle will return to deliver the lecture titled ?Being Ready When Opportunity Knocks.? The event will take place on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the Pound Hall Auditorium located on the VSU's Steele North Campus.

After joining the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent in 1987, Jessie "The Hammer" Tuggle went on to play 14 years with the Falcons and made a total of 2,065 career tackles ? the most in team history. He earned five Pro Bowl appearances and led the Falcons in tackles in 10 of his 14 seasons, including a stretch of 12-straight 100-tackle seasons. He also led the NFL in tackles with 207 in 1991 and 201 in 1990. He holds the NFL record for most touchdowns by recovery of opponents? fumbles with five. Tuggle finished his career ranked third on the club's all-time list for most games played, with 209, and most starts, with 182.

The Harley Langdale, Jr. Lecture Series provides VSU business students and the public an opportunity to hear lectures on a wide range of business-related topics presented by experts in their related fields. This series of lectures is another step in the Langdale College of Business Administration's commitment to provide its students with high quality education by broadening their horizons and introducing them to real life experiences.
