College of Arts and Sciences Dean Named

After completing an extensive national search, President Ronald M. Zaccari has submitted the name of Dr. Linda Calendrillo as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, for approval from the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

Pending final approval at the Board of Regents June meeting, Calendrillo will assume her position effective July 1, 2003.

She is currently serving as head of the English Department at Western Kentucky University. Previously she was director of Eastern Illinois University s Writing Across the Curriculum Program and director of the Writing Center.

Calendrillo received a master s degree in English and a doctorate in Rhetoric/Composition from Purdue University and a bachelor s degree in English from St. John s University, in Staten Island, NY. She is the recipient the Unit Productivity Award (English) from Western Kentucky University for three consecutive years (2000-2002) and the Faculty Achievement Award in Teaching, Service and Publication from Eastern Illinois University.
