Fall seminar series scheduled
Valdosta State University's Biology, Chemistry, and Geosciences
departments are sponsoring a fall seminar series featuring guest
professors lecturing on many topics.
?We hope this seminar series will provide opportunities for faculty
and students alike to be exposed to current research developments
as well as to make valuable, off campus, professional connections
among colleagues in their respective disciplines,? said Dr. John
Elder, associate professor of biology.
The following lectures are open to public free of charge:
?Sept. 19, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. Dean Martin, will
talk about two views of the environment.
?Oct. 3, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. Joe Bidwell, will
lecture on ecotoxicology.
?Oct. 10, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. Bill Baker, will
speak about natural products from marine organisms.
?Oct. 17, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. Bill Landing, will
give a lecture titled ?Desert Dust and Iron Fertilization in the
Oceans.?
?Oct. 24, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. Ken Weston, will talk
about single molecule fluorescence.
?Oct. 31, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. Kirstin E. Ross, will
lecture on molecular genetics and stripped bass
ecotoxicology.
?Nov. 7, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. Thomas Potter, will
speak on estimating pesticide exposure in food quality protection
act risk assessments.
?Nov. 14, at 4:30 p.m., in the large auditorium of the
Biology/Chemistry Building, guest speaker Dr. F. Joseph Schork will
give a lecture titled ?Miniemulsion Polymerization: New Polymer
Products Through Green Chemistry.?
