VSU Ambassadors seek community support

The Valdosta State University Ambassadors will host ?Fundraiser for Lisa? a yard and craft sale on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Alumni House on Patterson Street, to raise money for Lisa Keaton, a VSU employee who has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.

According to Sharon Butcher, manager of Campus Mail Services, Keaton's medical expenses are mounting daily and the yard and craft sale will provide an opportunity for the VSU community to help one of its own.

?There are extreme expenses involved with Lisa's treatment,? Butcher said. ?Some procedures and medications are only partially covered by insurance, if they are covered at all.?

The Ambassadors are soliciting community support in the form of donations for the yard and craft sale, and those wishing to contribute are asked to bring any items appropriate for a yard sale and hand-made items are also being accepted. A T-shirt sale and a quilt raffle will also be a part of the event.

Butcher said that donations are being accepted in advance and volunteers are needed to help with the event.
