High school bowl championship

Valdosta State University's Students in Free Enterprise will host Free Enterprise Bowl, Thursday, Feb. 21, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at VSU's University Center Theater. High school students from Valdosta, Echols, Brooks and Lanier County Schools will call upon their knowledge of America's free enterprise system in the third annual competition.

The morning session will feature a question and answer competition dealing with subjects such as supply and demand, opportunity costs, taxes, international trade, monopolies and oligopolies, fiscal and monetary policy, types of business and entrepreneurship.

The afternoon session will focus on business plans. Each team will give a presentation detailing their company's market needs, mission statement, financial plan, price strategy, advertising mix, location and other necessary components.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams at the end of the competition.
