Crance honored with VSU public service award

Rep. Ron Borders (D-Valdosta) stands with Angela Crance, recipient of the 2000 Loyce W. Turner Award for Public Service presented to her recently by Valdosta State University. The award is given annually by the Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) Advisory Committee. Borders received the first award last year. The award acknowledges Crance's public service to the region and is named in honor of former State Sen. Loyce Turner. Dr. Bob Aldinger is coordinator of the M.P.A. Advisory Committee. Crance has been executive director of the United Way of Lowndes County for six years. She has worked for the past seven years in many Leadership Lowndes board positions, serving as president in 1997. During 1997 and 1998, Crance also served as the first woman president of the Valdosta North Rotary Club, winning the prestigious Rotary International Presidential Citation for outstanding club participation in the Four Rotary Avenues of Service and an outstanding president's award from the district governor.
