In order to be successful in Freshman music theory, you should be fluent in certain elements of music including reading both treble and bass clefs, counting and subdividing basic rhythms and meters, and identifying and writing all major key signatures (including order and placement of flats and sharps on the staff).

Freshman theory will be divided into two sections: a faster-paced section and a regular-paced section based on results of a placement test administered on the first day of class.  If you took the AP Music Theory exam in high school and scored a 4 or 5, please contact Dr. Sparks for placement in the theory curriculum.
