Tips for quick, efficient parking
- Make sure that you arrive early enough to locate a parking space prior to classes and/or meetings.
- When registering for classes, make sure that you allow enough time to walk from one class to another. If you have to go to another area on campus, make sure that you have time to ride the bus or move your car.
- Be aware of the bus schedule and the locations where it stops.
- Make sure that your virtual parking permit is properly displayed when parking on campus.
- In the event you forget your permit, pick up a temporary virtual parking permit prior to parking on campus. Permits can be obtained from the Parking & Transportation Department.
- If you have a temporary medical disability that requires special parking considerations, obtain a note from your doctor describing the length of the illness and special parking considerations. Bring this information to the Parking & Transportation Department and register for a VSU temporary medical permit.
- You must have a state approved Disabled virtual parking permit to park in disabled spaces.
- When expecting visitors, tell them to obtain a virtual parking permit from the Parking & Transportation Department.
- Learn the locations of assigned parking areas on campus where you can legally park.
- For your safety, learn the locations of the emergency telephones on campus. Make sure that you know the proper operation of the telephones by calling the University Police dispatcher. Tell the dispatcher that you are learning how to use the emergency telephone. Your call is welcome.
- Roll up all of your windows and lock your doors when parking your car. Try to leave valuables at home or conceal them in the car.
- If you receive a parking citation, make sure to pay it within ten days from the day you receive the citation to avoid the addition of a late fee.
- If you wish to file an appeal to a parking citation, contact Parking & Transportation Department within ten days to obtain an appeal form.
