Graduate Executive Committee

The Graduate Executive Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Associate Provost for Graduate Studies and Research on issues of graduate curriculum; policies and procedures affecting graduate recruitment, admissions, progression, retention, and graduation; the graduate student research symposium; thesis and dissertation guidelines; graduate assistantships; graduate faculty status; and other graduate-related issues. The Associate Provost supervises and coordinates all graduate-level educational programs in collaboration with the academic deans, department heads, graduate program directors, and the Graduate Executive Committee thereby making recommendations to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Committee membership is composed of the following: one graduate faculty representative from each department that offers a graduate degree program; one graduate faculty member to represent all affiliated departments (affiliated departments are those areas that teach graduate courses but do not offer graduate programs); and two at-large members.  All members of the Graduate Executive Committee must maintain current graduate faculty status.  The committee meets during the academic year to review proposals for curriculum change, new or revised courses, or new degrees as they relate to graduate level programs. Approved proposals are then forwarded to the academic committee for review before advancing to the faculty senate executive committee.
