VALDOSTA — Anna Marie Roberson of Alma, Georgia, is the recipient of the Fall 2020 President’s Award for Academic Excellence for the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration at Valdosta State University.

The President’s Award for Academic Excellence is presented to the graduating student with the highest grade point average in each of VSU’s six colleges — Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of the Arts, James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and College of Science and Mathematics.

Roberson will be recognized during VSU’s 230th Commencement at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. She will graduate summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration, a Minor in Business Law, and a Minor in Entrepreneurship.

“It is such an honor to be named the top graduate for the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration,” she said. “ It is so fulfilling to know that all the hard work that I have put in has been recognized, especially in a time where we have had to adapt to so may changes throughout this year.”

As a student at VSU, Roberson earned Dean’s List honors every semester.

Roberson also enjoyed a number of opportunities to engage in research activities with her classmates and faculty. Two of her favorite topics were “How Ethics Affect Profits” and “Various Leadership Styles and Their Effects on Job Satisfaction.” She believes the knowledge gained through these transformational learning moments will help her as she aspires to become the chief executive officer of a hospital or healthcare organization in the future.

Motivated by a passion for helping others, Roberson volunteered for a number of organizations and special initiatives during her time at VSU. She served patients at Partnership Health Center, a charitable clinic that provides medical services, dental services, and medication assistance for the uninsured. She conducted food drives to support individuals and families who struggle to access affordable, nutritious food on a regular basis. She helped organize an emergency supplies drive to provide some relief to the people of The Bahamas who were impacted by Hurricane Dorian in 2019.

Roberson plans to continue her education at VSU and pursue a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration. She is the daughter of Tim and Tina Stevens.
