Blazer Week Activities to Promote School Spirit

With Homecoming being postponed until the spring, VSU wanted to still have a celebration that focuses on students. That’s why Blazer Week was planned by the Office of Student Life.

“Our students are doing such a wonderful job embracing campus life during a very unusual time. We wanted to find a way to have some fun and also show them as much of the real college experience as we can. We think they’re going to have a blast,” says Director of Student Life Robin Vickery.

The dates for Blazer Week are October 12-16, and there are themed days along with events and competitions. For students who are entirely online, Vickery says you can still be involved as well.

“There’s a social media element to most of our events and competitions and of course our themed days. You can take part no matter where you are. We want to see your pictures, so be sure to tag our VSU accounts.”

The Themed Days include representing your favorite student organization, dressing like your favorite decade, and matching with your best friend on campus.

The Events and Competitions include Bingo, a sidewalk chalk competition, a sheet sign competition, a movie on the front lawn, Wild Adventures Day, and so much more.

Masks will continue to be required for indoor Blazer Week events, and will also be required for outdoor events when social distancing is not possible.
