Gray Elected Secretary of NCURA

VALDOSTA -- Director of Sponsored Programs and Research Administration, Barbara Gray has been elected secretary of the National Council of University Research Administrations (NCURA). NCURA is a professional organization for individuals involved in the administration of sponsored programs at colleges, universities, and teaching hospitals.

Previously serving as a member of the Board of Directors, Gray has also served as the chair of the Southeastern Region, co-chair of a national special topics conference, and a member of the program committee for the annual meeting.

“It’s an honor to know that my colleagues have entrusted me with a leadership position in our organization. I have benefitted tremendously from my nineteen years of involvement in NCURA, both professionally and personally,” Gray said. “Now I have been given an opportunity to give back, through my time, talents, and energy, to ensure that the organization remains progressive and vibrant and that it continues to provide exceptional professional development opportunities to future generations of university research administrators. This is definitely a highlight of my career, and I appreciate the support I received at VSU to pursue this opportunity.”

Gray is currently a faculty member for the NCURA Fundamentals of Sponsored Programs Administration traveling workshop series. Gray will begin her two year term as Secretary in Jan. 2010.
