Office of Veterans Affairs

The Office of Veterans Affairs is dedicated to helping both veterans and their dependents. In addition to helping students apply for VA education benefits, we also take pride in helping the veteran/dependent be successful during their educational experience at VSU.

We have 3 roles in our office. The first role is to help the student use their educational benefits that they applied for. The application for VA benefits is submitted directly to the VA for review by the student/parent at least 5 weeks before the start of classes. The student will then receive a Certificate of Eligibility that they will submit to our office with a semester checklist every semester they would like to use benefits. The second role is to properly notify the VA Regional Office of the student’s enrollment status each semester. This is extremely important, being that without this notification, VA benefits cannot be paid out to the veteran/dependent. This process is usually done prior to the start of each semester, as long as we have all necessary documentation to do so. The third role for our office is to notify the VA of any changes to a student schedule, degree program, academic standing, and graduation status. The VA closely monitors a student’s status and requires each school to alert the VA to these types of changes.

We are truly honored to serve those that have served. We consider it a great privilege that you (the student) chose Valdosta State University to pursue your educational goals.
